Mission 82 - The Aggressor
Location: OPS
Timeline: Present
Admiral T'Lar was finding it difficult to concentrate on anything that she needed to. She stepped into the turbolift and indicated a level number. She inadvertently said the wrong number. When she was asked for an authorization code, she realized her mistake and changed it to level 4.
"Sorry." She stepped back in and went to her appropriate level which was OPS. She was bothered by what she saw. Why was a security code needed? She asked the computer to monitor the turbolift to the fourth level. She wanted to see who was going to that floor. She knew that Selvek has a secure office on that level. This made her somewhat suspicious. Now she had one more thing on her mind.
She was once again lost in her own thoughts when the computer warned her of two people arriving on that level. The Gladiator had docked and someone named Matthews had met Andrenicus at the air lock. It was these two that had arrived on level 4.
Deela was curious now and got back onto the turbolift, "Level 4, secured office suite. Authorization, T'Lar Alpha-3-1-Beta-4."
"Security code not accepted. Access denied." She frowned, wondering what was so secretive that he had to implement heavy security measures. Once Admiral Bremer comes back from his trip to Earth, she would talk to him about Selvek.
Deela went back to OPS, "I need to take a break. I'll be in my quarters if I am needed." Deela left and entered her quarters. She laid down and closed her eyes.
Deela must have been sleep for a good while because she started to dream. The scene went to the Essex and Deela walking down the corridor which seemed to elongate. Jim was at the end on the floor laying in a pool of blood. The doctor was there sitting with Jim's head cradled on his lap. She finally made it to Jim and held him. He whispered something that only she could hear which made her cry, "Don't say that. You are going to be okay."
Soon, they were in sickbay, Jim was on the biobed with a sheet over his face. She screamed, "NO!" This woke her up. Tears were running down her face and she was sweaty. She got up and poured herself a shot of real liquor, not the fake stuff. She downed several shots of whiskey and sat down trying to shake off the dream.
Being alone in her quarters proved to be too lonely for her as everyone was out eating. Arriving back in OPS, she sat down. She didn't hear someone speaking to her at first, "Admiral? Admiral T'Lar?"
"Huh?" Deela looked at a crewmember, "Oh sorry."
"Are you okay? Do you need anything?" Deela shook her head, "No, I am okay. I just have a slight headache."
After being assured that she didn't need anything, the crewmember left her. Deela rested her head on her hand. Her hand slipped out from under her head and when she turned around, a Gorn slashed at her throat. She shrieked as she held her throat. She looked around and realized that she had fallen asleep. It wasn't a surprise especially since she hadn't slept for twenty-four hours.
