Mission: Episode 117 - "Returning to the Mirror"
Location: Starbase 400
Timeline: MD2, 0800hrs

ON:

Mike was back in Ops after talking with Xalanth. He knew something was going on, but he couldn't put his finger on it. He hated to think he was getting paranoid.

He called T'Lar to his office, but wanted to make sure she was who she was supposed to be.

Once the door closed, Mike tapped buttons on his desk and sealed the door and cut off all sensors so there was no record of the conversation.

"How do I know you're you?" Mike asked, bluntly and almost without reason as far as T'Lar was concerned.

For two years, Deela had been to hell and back. If she didn't know him as well as she did, she would have thought that this was a cruel joke, one that was not funny and in poor taste. She answered just as bluntly, "You don't." She took a seat, "I could ask you the same question?"

Mike smirked. It didn't matter what was going on, who ever was behind it was getting what they wanted, paranoia and distrust. Mike then turned, ordered a raktijino from the food slot, then handed T'Lar a cup of Vulcan spice tea.

After taking a sip of his hot raktijino, Mike took a deep breath before speaking. "Have you noticed anything odd lately? Someone seemingly in two places at once, or someone not where they're supposed to be, or not where they are supposed to be?"

Deela took a sip of her drink as she laughed to herself the irony of it all. Per Jim's warning, she knew exactly where Mike was going with these questions. She didn't scare easily but she did fear that they would return to finish off Jack, "Ever since Jack has returned, I have done nothing but watch mine and Jack's back. I personally haven't seen anything out of the ordinary and I doubt they'd do anything in my presence, knowing that I'd be watchful. But even if I haven't seen anything, it doesn't mean they are not here."

She started to take another sip. Before doing so, she had to ask, "With that said, should I be worried?"

Mike thought about what Deela said for a moment, "So you think these are possibly agents from the Mirror Universe?" Mike then handed Deela a PADD. She probably already knew all the information on it, but outlined all of the Federation's known encounters with the Mirror Universe since the 2150s. Empress Georgiou and her work with Section 31, even though most of the report was heavily redacted. Kirk's encounter in the 2267. Aboard DS9's encounters in the 2370s. Bremer's own Mirror Universe experiences in the 2370s to the most recent encounter 2392. It also gave brief information about Bremer's and Pike's Mirror Universe duplicates in SB400's brig.

She looked the information over, "It's the logical choice. Unless there are other worlds out there with our doppelgangers, it has to be. That would explain how someone could be in two places at once. At least, I don't have to worry about mine. Apparently, she's dead. And hopefully, yours is still secure." She thought for a moment, "It might be a good idea to put extra security on them." The problem was trying to make sure those guards are who they are.

Mike nodded. "When I went down there because K'Temoc said he was going to Ops but went to Level 98 instead. He was meeting with Lieutenant Ballard who had found some irregularities in the security database. Ensign Harper arrived a few minutes later. I then met with Xalanth..." Mike trailed off.

Deela had been in OPS all evening and she didn't remember seeing K'Temoc either but she did see Harper at one time. It was all making sense, "If what I expect is true, there's only one reason he'd go to Level 98. Did anything else strange happen?"

"I'd seen Ensign Harper on Level 708, then Ops reported he was leaving there a few minutes later." Mike explained. He paused a moment, then tapped his commbadge. "Bremer to Lieutenant Ballard." There was no response.

Mike stood, "Come on."

"Where are we going?" Deela quickly followed along. She didn't like where this was going. She would need to warn Jack in case his returned as well. But right now, there was no time.

"The Brig. I've got a bad feeling about this." Mike replied as they left his Office.

A few minutes later, Bremer and T'Lar stepped out of the turbolift on Level 98. They saw Lieutenant Ballard on the deck, bleeding from his head and torso, but he was alive.

Mike slapped his commbadge, "Bremer to Sickbay, medical emergency, Level 98, outside of the Maximum Security Brig"

Mike looked around. The security officer that was working the desk inside the brig's internal security room dead. There was also no sign of Ensign Harper.

"Deela, check the cells, see if anyone is missing." Mike asked as he tried to access security footage of the area.

Deela practically ran to the cells. And what she saw, she just turned white as a ghost, "Oh god, no." Mirror Pike and Bremer were gone. She ran back to Mike, "They're gone! Both of them, gone." She pushed her hair out of her eyes, "If he gets to you...oh no, I need to warn Alex."

"Go!" Mike said and watched Deela leave.

Mike then tapped his commbadge, "Bremer to Xalanth and Lennox, there's been a breach in the maximum security brig. Mirror universe duplicates of Commodore Pike and myself are missing. Lock the station down and be advised, I believe we have others from the mirror universe aboard."

Mike waited for the medics to arrive to treat Ballard. As he turned to leave he noticed something wet, almost a goo on the deck near another blood splatter. Cocked his head to the side, but didn't have time to see if someone spilt soup, a drink, or what it was. He had to stop at nothing to get his mirror universe duplicate back behind a forcefield.
