Mission: Episode 114 - A Time and Place for Everything
Location: Starbase 400
Timeline: MD2 0010hrs

ON:

Quark had put any thought of the temporal anomaly behind him as he and Zark signed their agreement to make Zark’s Bar and official Quark’s franchise. They had agreed to the official name to be ‘Quark’s, an Official Franchise operated by Zark’…with the last six words being in a smaller font than ‘Quark’s’ of course.

Mar’g had been able to purchase a failing bar on Kaleb IV in New Hampton and it was also being turned into a ‘Quark’s’ as well.

The Ferengi, all of them, saw lots of profit in their future.

“Now remember, the holo-Leta is only for the Dabo table, her program is basic and my brother, the Grand Nagus, wouldn’t want it to be altered.” Quark said.

“Of course not.” Zark replied as he and Mar’g shared a smirk while Quark was looking at his PADD.

“Does Rom even know about the holo-Leta?” A voice asked from the shadows.

Zark and Mar’g looked around, surprised by the fact someone else was in the closed room with them and Quark.

Quark on the other hand slowly looked up from the PADD. He knew the voice, all too well, but it was one he hadn’t heard in some time. “No way.”

“Yes, way.” Odo said stepping out of the shadows.

“You came all the way from the Gamma Quadrant to see me open this new franchise?” Quark said with a sly toothy grin. “I’m touched Odo.”

“I’m not from the Gamma Quadrant. The Defiant is here from 2373. Dax and O’Brien are helping the science team with getting everyone home while Captain Sisko is talking with Fleet Admiral Bremer. He mentioned you were here and I figured you were up to no good.” Odo explained.

“Not at all Odo.” Quark started, now with the temporal anomaly forefront in his mind. “So um, how many Daxs are on Starbase 400 right now?” Quark smiled.

“Quark!” Odo said with anger in his voice.

“Odo, I promise you, all of this is legal.” Quark replied, handing Odo the PADD.

Odo snatched the PADD from Quark’s hand and started to read over it. He could hardly believe what he read, the contract was legal and there was even a signed clause from Rom and Leta allowing the Holo-Leta under very specific terms to be used. “Quark, I’m shocked.”

Quark smiled at his old adversary from another time, “I learned from the best.”

Odo narrowed his eyes, he wasn’t exactly sure how to take that.

“Now, if I can only get Fleet Admiral Bremer to shut down that ‘Cheers’ holographic bar.

“Don’t count on it.” Odo replied.

“We’ve been trying for years, it takes about a third of the profits we could be making.” Zark replied.

Mar’g nodded, “And the encryption and security on that holo-suite and program is top level.”

Zark shot Mar’g a ‘shut up’ look while Mar’g looked at Odo with a ‘I said too much’ expression.

“I guess I’ll have to see if there’s anyway for me to improve on it then while I’m here.” Odo said with a smile.

Quark shook his head.

Elsewhere on the station K’Temoc had left Ops and grabbed a quick bit to eat at the Klingon restaurant. On his way back to Ops he ran into Commander Roebuck.

“Commander, I was going to reach out to you after this temporal situation was over, but if you have a few minutes.” K’Temoc said as he stepped into the turbolift Roebuck was already in.

“Yes sir.” Roebuck replied. His mind was elsewhere.

“Commander Grian was due to take the Buccaneer out on a patrol, but the temporal anomaly appeared and threw a monkey into the wrench.” K’Temoc started to explain and Roebuck smirked as the altered version of the metaphor. “The Buccaneer is in drydock for overhaul that is now behind schedule. Once this crisis is over, she’ll need a ship and I was thinking over a swap per say.”

“The Cutlass?” Roebuck replied.

K’Temoc nodded. “Yes. It would make sense with her Strategic Operations duties, and an Interceptor class might work out better for you with your Investigations duties. Especially if there’s another Office of the President request.”

Roebuck nodded as he thought. “Alright. If she’s good with it. It’ll be hard to see the ol’ girl go, but she just finished a full overhaul.”

K’Temoc smiled, “Good, thank you.”

“I’ll get Lieutenants Carter and Kanan to look over the Buccaneer and overhaul schedule. I assume the rest of the crews will remain with the ships they’re already assigned too.” Roebuck replied.

K’Temoc nodded. “Yes, other than command crews, the rest of the crews will stay with the ship they know best.”

“Very good sir.” Roebuck replied.

“If you don’t mind me saying so, your mind seems to be elsewhere.” K’Temoc commented.

Roebuck nodded. “I just met my great, grandfather, Jonathan Roebuck the first.” He smiled. “Captain of the NCC-1702 Pegasus in 2395. They just dropped over one of your ancestors, Admiral Walter Bremer, and are on they way to the Beta Quadrant to locate the missing USS Greenville.”

K’Temoc thought for a moment. “I remember reading about that mission. Roebuck’s former ship. The new Captain, Roebuck’s former XO, had gone rogue with the Akula class USS Greenville. The Romulans were aiding pirates in their raids on Federation planets and supplied them with a bio weapon. The Pegasus and Greenville managed to stop the plot.”

Roebuck nodded. “Yes, exactly. It was just an odd experience meeting my great grandfather that died just a few months before I was born…and we’re both the same age right now.”

K’Temoc smiled. “This temporal anomaly has been an interesting event to be sure.”

The lift stopped and both men stepped out into Ops about the same time Fleet Admiral Bremer returned to Ops from another lift. Mike motioned for his brother to join him in his office, he was obvious he had something important to tell him.
