Mission: Episode 114 - A Time and Place for Everything
Location: Promonade
Timeline: MD2-1100 hrs

ON:

Captain Ezri Dax was getting a bite to eat as the situation was being hashed out onboard the Starbase and within the space known as the triangle. She wasn't entirely sure what was going on, but knew that everything would be figured out as the various science teams worked together to figure it all out.

However, as she ate her lunch, she looked across the promenade and saw someone that she hadn't seen before, but had a gut feeling who it was...Vox.

Dee was once again trying to sort out the same faulty promenade display she had tried to fix only a few days ago, which, to her dismay, had gone wrong...again. She was scanning the relays within the display when she got that feeling she was being watched. She continued working but that niggling feeling kept persisting. She stopped scanning and put the tool into her utility belt. She glanced around the promenade, at first she didn't see anything but on her second glance, there she was, a Trill in a red Starfleet uniform, their eyes locked. It then dawned on her who it was,... Dax. The expression on Dee's face changed from one of general curiosity to a stern seriousness.

When the Dax symbiont was joined briefly with Joran, who then killed three people, one of these people happened to be the fiancé of Lerani, the then host of Vox. Deezel mouthed the words 'we need to talk'. Dax nodded.

Dee picked up her duty PADD off the floor and head over to where the Captain was sitting.

"May I join you Captain?" she asked.

"Do we know each other?" Dax asked with a curious look upon her face. She didn't instantly recognize the young officer, as she remembered Vox's previous host.

"Well not in this current lifetime, but we have met before." She said taking a seat. "I'm Lieutenant JG Deezell Vox. Assistant Chief Engineer for Starbase 400. Last time our paths crossed, not to beat about the bush, you, as in Joran, killed my fiancé. Back then I was Lerani , the bride to be. " Dee replied.

While Dax was more confident after years of working with the Dax symbiont, anyone that walked past could see the look that Dax had on her face. Her eyes widened and they looked like saucers. She couldn't quite find the words to say anything within that moment and all that came out were incoherent words strung together.

"It was well over 100 years ago but I've not forgotten what you, well not actually you, as in you now but...dammit. When I get emotional I have trouble with sorting out current and past hosts and their memories. You see, we both got our symbionts through being the only Trill onboard and without any training. " Dee replied.

"What do you want from me? I know that there was a lot that Joran did in the past and even the commission did a lot to cause harm to the people that he hurt. But, neither one of us can change the past, even our joining. There's a lot of stuff that can be done, especially with extra training for new hosts like yourself. There's....just a lot that can be done," Dax said, thinking back to Joran and trying to block out the bad memories and realized that she was rambling.

"You know, I don't really know anymore. I've held this grudge for so long, changed hosts three times since then, and now we finally meet, it just seems just so pointless. I'm guessing that the Lerani in me hoped for something but as you said the past is the past, we can't change it. Anyway, we have more pressing matters. You and your ship aren't from this time and so I'm part of the team trying figure this whole mess out and get you and others that our out of time, home."

"The good news about the whole time traveling thing is that I'm from not too far in the past, but I am from the past and we need to get everyone back to where they came from. So, does your team have any ideas of what's happening to us....But, stop. We need to talk about what happened. I can't just let this whole thing die with us. I'm sorry about Joran. Nobody knew he would do what he did, including those who took over after him. It wasn't fully disclosed until Jadzia Dax and I still struggle with it on occasion. I'm sorry for what he did to you," Ezri replied.

"We are working on different theories and hypotheses. A combine science and engineering team." Dee explained. "You're right of course. I should let it go. Holding on to the past rarely does anyone any favours, especially if it's something like this. My, Lerani's fiancé was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Let's put this behind us and focus on getting you and everyone else back to their correct time. " Dee added.

"Just know that I'm sorry that Joran wasn't the best person or host out there. Everyone deserved better, including the rest of the Dax hosts. But, he's apart of me, just like Lerani is. As for the time travelers, the best thing I could say is that if you're having trouble with getting them back or anything, something you could do is look back at the sensor logs and see when everyone came through the temporal anomaly. See who came back and when. It could be helpful in starting you guys off on getting us all back," Dax replied.

"Oh I hadn't thought of that. I bet that's Jadzia speaking right there. " Dee said with a smile.

"She might be running around on the station. I think the Defiant is out there in the mix of all of the ships that have come through the temporal anomaly outside the station," Ezri said with a small smile and chuckle.

"Woah, can the universe handle two Dax's at once? Will universe ending calamities ensue if we don't get you all back home soon?" Dee said trying her best to hold back her laughter but failing miserably.

"Just wait until we see Curzon Dax running around the promenade and trying to flirt with the Klingon women of the Starbase!" Ezri said with a chuckle escaping her own lips.

"Oh dear lord. I think we can do without that happening. " Dee exclaimed.

"Yeah, he was quite the character and still is. But, make sure to get us back home safely, okay?" Ezri said, finishing off her lunch before standing back up and taking it back to the replicator to recycle it.

Once Ezri returned to the table Dee stood up. "Its been a pleasure Captain. We will do our best to get everyone back home. You might not remember our encounter when you go back to your correct time period so I will remember it for the both of us. " Dee commented.

Ezri stopped for a moment to think. She smiled as she looked back at the younger officer and replied, "Whenever you see me again, tell me about this and remind me of the time that I was a cadet onboard the USS Franklin. Tell me about how I was so scared of messing up that I spilled coffee on the senior ship counselor. It'll let me know I can trust you. I've never told anyone that story besides that officer."

"Oh...so I'm not the only one who's done that then. I will remember that. I do hope we meet again, but you will be older in this time. " Dee replied.

"We will. Don't you worry about that much kid," Ezri said with a smile before heading off to head back to the Aventine.
