Mission: Episode 116 - "A Bounty of Trust"
Fulvia couldn't say she was comfortable. She doubted anyone could be carrying a hybrid dragonian who was getting bigger by the day in her womb. Yet here looking over cold cases in the security offices library. She didn't know why but it relaxed her and seemed to calm the acrobatic child within her.
She started humming one of the gladiatorial training hyms she basically been born singing as she continued her work.
Perhaps the voice she heard next to her then might've surprised her: "Avé, fellow Magna Roman. It has been some years since I've last heard the rousing notes of Cenarius' Rally." The speaker was a tall and muscular yet curvacous woman with prominent Klingon head ridges and tanned skin the color of coffee with milk, who approached Fulvinia without fear. "I'd like to congratulate you on the bearing of your child, by the way. If they are anything like their mother they shall make a fine warrior someday." K'Lara smiled then; her teeth were clean and pearly white, but sharp as a Klingon's. "I am ensign K'Lara Fulvinia. My mother was of Magna Roma. I myself spent many years in the arena, at least, until I decided that my destiny lay in the stars, with the gods."
" From the arena? " Fulvia said it bringing back many memories. Some good and others very painful. "Crikey I was the lightweight champion before I left the planet. "
"Were you? I was a lightweight fighter myself. I specialized in the use of daggers and knives." K'Lara said. "I won myself much repute that way - but eventually the stars had a far more seductive call than the arena. There is only so much grappling and knifework and training one can do before boredom begins to set in, don't you agree?"
" A rather nasty mother-in-law and her hired guns was why I left. " Fulvia replied honestly slightly wondering why she had never heard of her. " Now here I am with my mate and daughter with this one on the way." She said patting her very pregnant belly.
"That is good to hear. Rest assured you are safe with us - no hired hands shall touch you while you are part of this starbase's crew." K'Lara declared. "Though of course if they do I'm sure you are capable of defending yourself well, with child or not." After a short pause she added, "Do you know if it'll be a boy or girl? I've always envisioned myself with a daughter."
" Another girl. My mate already has four. One from me and three from his other mates." Fulvia replied rubbing her belly as she felt a kick from her daughter.
"How lovely." K'Lara smiled warmly. "With my current partner I doubt I'll ever have a child - moreso with my heritage. She's a beautiful Trill with strawberry blonde hair so smooth it feels like velvet, and an amazing body, though she'll never admit to it." She chuckled softly. "Trill, Klingon and Magna Roman - I don't even know if it'd work."
" There's some great federation doctors who could help you." Fulvia added " There a gorn who can work wonders. Not that we needed help. Dragonian DNA just seems to willingly bond with others."
"We shall see. Dragonian, you say. I'm afraid I've never heard of the race." K'Lara remarked. "Could you tell me more?"
" He's the chief of security. Have you not had a chance to meet him?" Fulvia inquired. " There an upright raptor race. Not members of the fedration like are homeworld. Xalanths the only one of his kind in the fleet."
"He is a reptilian? Fascinating." K'Lara remarked. "Will the child be a reptilian as well? I am genuinely curious."
" Outside pure dragonian though are eldest does have a yellow pattern along her head." Fulvia explained. " Though inside she does have some of her mothers organs added onto those of her dads."
"That sounds... unusual." K'Lara commented. "I can only imagine how her internal chemistry works. Of course, I am a security officer, not a scientist or doctor." Following a bried pause she added, "Is there anything you require my assistance with, ma'am?"
" I'm looking through the station's unsolved cases. Seeing if a fresh pair of eyes can notice anything. " Fulvia replied turning her computer so the woman could see.
