Mission: Episode 114 - A Time and Place for Everything
Location: Starbase 400
Timeline: MD1 - 1130hrs

ON:

Mike had retired to his office after learning the names of the different ships now holding position around Starbase 400. He knew Janice had been hailing, asking for him, but Mike hadn't been able to bring himself to respond.

He sat at his desk for a moment and tapped his finger, but still couldn't bring himself to respond to the hail. Instead, he looked at a report from Commander Solomon who had taken LOA while they were returning to Starbase 400 from the Dewa system. While it wasn't a fully resignation, Mike knew Solomon would be gone awhile, so he approved a promotion for Mr. McWire to Chief Engineering Officer and the rank of Lieutenant. He also approved a promotion for Ms. Vox to Assistant Chief Engineering Officer and Lieutenant JG. They would take care of the command codes for the Ark Royal later, when time allowed.

Mike then procrastinated again...but after a few moments he tapped a button his on desk and opened the channel.

"Mike...Mike is that you?" Janice said.

Mike stared at the screen for a moment. He knew his wife dead...yet here she was...moments before her death, thanks to the temporal anomaly outside of Starbase 400.

"Ja...Janice, I'm here." Mike replied.

"I'm beaming over." Janice said.

"Wait, I'll beam you in, directly to my office." Mike replied. He tapped a few buttons on his desk and a moment later a shimmer of light faded away and there was Janice.

Mike slowly stood and Janice rushed over to him and gave him a hug. After a moment, she pulled back.

"I know you're from two years in my future, but with the tension of the war I'm just happy to see you and know you survived." Janice explained.

Mike tried to force a smile, but as he did a tear rolled down his eye.

Janice softly kissed him, then realized the truth. "I...I'm dead?"

Mike didn't know what to say. He couldn't tell her the truth since it might change the timeline once they were able to get everyone back to their own timeline.

"Just hold me." Janice said as she wrapped her arms around Mike, who in turn held her tightly and didn't want to let go.

After a few moments, that seemed to last forever yet was over far too fast, Janice pulled back. She had brought a small package with her from the Durga. She picked it up from the table she had set it down on and handed it to Mike.

"While the Durga was away, I picked this up for you." She smiled, "From what sensors show, it's close to Christmas time for you, so, Merry Christmas."

Mike took the package and looked it over for a moment before opening it. "A Klingon emblem for a baldric?" Mike didn't recognize the House it belonged to.

Janice nodded, "It's from the House of Tor'lar."

"Tor'lar...the House that the House of Ma'gh had a blood feud with a hundred years ago." Mike replied.

Janice nodded. "Your father's House defeated them, but never prove they killed Tor'lar. That's his crest, his blood is still on it. It was hidden by a friendly House but located when they died out and their estate was plundered. Now, you can display it, proving your family's House superior."

"Thank you." Mike sincerely said.

"I have something else for you, can I beam it over?" Janice asked.

Mike nodded.

A moment later, a sword like weapon appeared on Mike's desk. "I had this kur'leth made for you. I know you prefer the Mek'leth and dislike the Bat'leth...so I thought this would be an alternative for you."

"Thank you." Mike said as he picked it up. He wasn't sure what else to say.

"Come here." Janice said as she and Mike hugged again, then kissed.

Mike knew this moment was a gift, and sadly it would soon come to an end. "I love you."

"I love you too." Janice replied as she took a step back. "No mater what happens, I want you to keep doing what you do."

Mike looked at Janice and raised an eye brow.

"Save the day." Janice said with a smile. She then tapped her commbadge. "General Fultian-Bremer to Durga, beam be back."

And with that, Janice was gone...however now he had a sense of peace he didn't have when Janice had died.

Mike took a moment to put the crest in his display case, then strapped the kur'leth on before returning to Ops.
