Deezell did have an interest in the initiate program and hopefully becoming joined but she had decided to get her career in Starfleet off the ground first. But, like with a lot of things in this mixed up universe, destiny clearly had other plans for her.

So instead of having the years of training and counselling that comes with initiate program, all Deezell got before being joined with Vox was an hour talk from the ship's medical officer who wasn't even a Trill, as she was, after all, the only one onboard.

Her leave of absence that followed to give her some extra time to come to terms with everything did help but it was still not a match what the Initiate Program would have provided.

Deezell sat at her desk in her quarters, watching the time slowly approach 18:00 for her weekly chat with Doctor Lozren from the Symbiosis Commission. Before leaving Trill at the end of her leave of absence, it was agreed she should have a weekly check in with Doctor Lozren for three months just to make sure all was OK.

The medical team aboard Starbase 400 sent regular updates to Lozren to she could keep an eye on things, especially her Isoboramine levels, a neurotransmitter in Trill symbiont physiology which regulated the connections between the host and the symbiont.

After the chat, Doctor Lozren decided that there wasn't any need to continue for final two months as all was well. But Deezell could make contact with her if she ever needed to.

She turned off her console and moved over to the replicator. She had a desire for Salmon and rice, something Raekwon was very fond of, so she ordered it from the replicator and, taking the bowl, she sat at her table. As she ate the food with a fork, she held a padd in her other hand and scrolled through the maintenance schedule for her next shift.

She got halfway down the schedule when she saw a familiar location. She had been assigned to make some adjustments and repairs to the power conduits behind Raekwon's old gallery as the new owners needed extra connections for their business. She knew then, that this job would be different from the others, as it would resurface memories.
