Mission: Episode 108 – Tragedies, Fortunes, and an Endgame
Location: Various Locations - Starbase 400
Timeline: Set Four days after the Halloween Party

Admiral Jake Yamaguchi was sitting in his ready room on the USS Courageous. This old Galaxy-class ship had served him very well down the years. The com system beeped at him. "Admiral. You have a Beta Priority message coming in from Starbase 400."

Yamaguchi raised an eyebrow. It was a priority but not urgent. "I'll take it in here." he answered the officer who was informing him of this development.

Yamaguchi rose to his feet and went over to the large wall monitor. He tapped it once to have the delicate-looking face of an old family friend appear on the display. "Admiral. What can I do for you?" he inquired of Deela T'Lar.

Deela's expression was that of a Vulcan. She appeared emotionless but inside, she was feeling apprehensive to interfere, "I am not sure. There was a situation on Starbase 400. I was informed by Captain Harrison of something that happened and it upset her. I ordinarily don't interfere but this is one time I am making it my business." She paused for a moment, "Especially when it comes to my friends and Starbase 400."

Jake raised an eyebrow. He had not heard of anything from Torilla, Elizabeth or Rachael for quite some time. He regarded the handsome Vulcan looking woman before him. "Go on..." he inquired. "I know Torilla has been having issues for a while with the loss of our son's family... With Gabe having dropped off of the face of reality... I know she never gave up... I dunno really..."

"Well, that is just it. Gabe is no longer missing. He showed up and started a conversation with Captain Harrison. She got the feeling that he was up to no good especially when she found out who he was. The more she talked to him, the more disturbed she was. She became scared of him and that is quite unusual for her. Captain Harrison asked him to leave Starbase 400 but he did not. I am surprised that Torilla did not tell you."

Deela sighed, "Gabe is in a bad place and with the loss of his kids and wife, he is almost over the edge. He's set on revenge and wants who is responsible to pay for it."

Yamaguchi silently shook his head. "No. Torilla hasn't talked to me in quite some time... Clearly, I need to talk to her though..." he sighed softly. "So.. Let me see if I got this right... Gabe pops up out of the black... On the same base, his mother is visiting, just like that?" Yamaguchi paused as he sighed a second time.

"Deela... Its worse then what you think... He doesn't know about his children... They are alive and well... I have all three of them. Nicole. Gideon and Arlene... They've been living with me..."

"Living with you and he does not know?" She had to process the info in her head, "All this time, he is thinking that his kids are dead and they are not. Rachael is on Starbase 400 as well. What I cannot figure out is if Gabe knew they were there and thus why he chose Starbase 400. Captain Harrison suspected that he wanted to get his hands on something that the base had. Fortunately, he showed up at Torilla's." Another question came to mind, "Is the reason why Gabe did not know that his kids were alive was because he dropped off the radar or because of some other reason?"

"Well... I can't speak for Gabe's mind..." Yamaguchi answered quietly. "He and I have not spoken in almost a year now..." he paused. "But the survivors from the attack that claimed Savannah brought his children to a refugee collection point, they were identified and sent to me... I've been looking after them for the last eight months. hoping Gabe might come back..."

Yamaguchi regarded the woman before him. "If I had lost what he had lost... I don't know what I'd do... Losing Torilla and all my children and then not knowing for months..." he shook his head. "Its... It's just too much. y'know?"

"Oh, believe me, I know how he feels. Losing two of my husbands at the hands of their enemies, I was Gabe. I still cannot face a Gorn without wanting to chop his head off." She didn't know if she would ever feel differently, "But I would never act on it."

Yamaguchi felt somewhat reassured that this woman before him had soe idea of how his son thought. "Fair enough." he answered quietly.

"I really think that Gabe needs to know that his kids are alive. It might help him to get through this. But I need to know where his head is at first." She thought for a moment, "Would it be okay if I told all of them that the kids are alive?" She added, "Unless you would rather do it."

"Under normal circumstances. I would... But my spouse considers you someone she trusts... I'll leave it with you Deela." he answered quietly. "I'll let Gabe decide what he wants to do."

"Okay. Then I will tell them and hopefully, it will give them some peace of mind." She now had to figure out how to tell them that they were alive.

"We can hope." Jake sighed. "I will contact Torilla tonight. Com lockout or no com lockout."

"Very well. Thank you for the talk. I really appreciate it and if there is anything I can do, let me know. Good day Admiral."

Yamaguchi smiled. "Thank you, Admiral. For yours." and with that, the conversation ended as he smiled for the first time in weeks.
