Mission: Mission 78 - Colonial Uprising
Location: Starbase 400, Quarters of Trisha Lee
Timeline: 0327
Tags: anyone

Trisha paced restlessly in her bedroom quarters, he thoughts racing with new ideas. For the last week, she'd been conceptualizing a small rail gun, and had been deciding whether or not to actually put it together or not.

She gathered the hem of her nightgown in her fists absently, to allow her to take steps without tripping over her own feet as she tended to do when not paying attention to her surroundings. Her quarters were lager than they'd be on a starship, and she'd been allowed to bring much more of her things aboard, but the place was still cluttered with tools, data padds, and half finished projects she'd been tinkering with.

She really didn't need more junk- she amended the thought- it wouldn't be junk exactly, it just wouldn't have much of a use outside of show and tell for the other engineers. She paused for a step, frowning. She knew in her heart that she had to impress them, in order to win their respect, but the idea of doing it seemed... Well, somewhat terrifying actually.

She knew that she worked well with them, and had quick, practical solutions for the problems she encountered in engineering her section of the starbase, but there was more to it than that. She just didn't BELONG, among them. She felt like an outsider, and it showed every time she went to the mess hall and was stuck by herself at a table.

No one had offered to sit wither her, and she was too afraid to approach them herself. She felt self conscious naturally, and sitting at a table all alone while being surrounded by full ones only made the feeling exponentially worse.

No. She realized that a rail gun wouldn't be enough. She have to do something a thousand time more impressive. Something that would really wow them.

The HALO project.

It was still classified, but maybe if she kept the experiment small and only showed a few people it would be alright. All she would need is the use of a shuttle for a few days, which she could easily get by marking one of them out of order in the roster, and assigning herself to fix it. She could do the modifications in a few hours and take the shuttle out with it's new HALO core, make a few laps around the station, and record all the sensor data privately, and then show it to whoever she felt would listen and be interested in it. The core would be so small that it probably wouldn't even be a blip on the stations sensors!

She smoothed the hem of her night gown out smiling. This could end up making her very popular is she played it right! She dashed out of her quarters toward of the the engineering labs she knew would be unoccupied at this time of night, completely forgetting that she was still in her sleepwear, and promptly tripped over her over feet, landing with a thud on the deck.

She barely noticed. She was too busy smiling.
