Letting him go...

577 words; about a 3 minute read

Mission: Mission 77 - No Time for the Dishonored
Location: USS Pegasus
Timeline: Current

OFF:
I'm going to end this mission so everyone's slate is clean...and there are no excuses why you can't post...

ON:
The Federation ships continued to chase after Toral's vessel and his remaining escorts....

"Admiral, incoming message from Starfleet Command. They have taken General Tarq and his vessel into custody, however they are advising us not to cross into Romulan space. Tensions are already high, and if we proceed into their space it could trigger an unneeded response." Harrison reported.

"They attacked a Starfleet ship, killed the crew, then attacked us...and we're to just let them walk away?" Mike replied, visibly unhappy about the order.

"They added they are going though diplomatic channels with the Romulans, asking them to at least track Toral, or if they intercept him when he crosses the border to extradite him. Also, Chancellor Martok has been informed and has ships heading to the Klingon/Romulan border incase the Romulans ignore Toral and he passes into Klingon space." Harrison added.

"Toral won't return to Klingon space. How long before he crosses into Romulan space?"

"Less than an hour now sir." Cheif Branson replied.

Mike paused. Chasing Toral any further wouldn't do any good. With the Romuans aware of the situation, they probably had two dozen Warbirds sitting along the border ready to ignore Toral and then intercept his damaged group. He didn't want to turn away either...doing so now or at the border would give the appearance that he and Starfleet were afraid of the Romulans, and a willingness to allow criminals to `get away with it`. Still, he knew if he did cross into Romulan space, it would give them the excuse to attack, and with the Gorn, Tholian, Breen, and other allies supporting them, it would be dark days for the Federation....

"Chief...alter our course. Take us to Starbase 400, but reduce our speed to warp two. Captain, have all ships alter course with us. Also, launch a Class One sensor probe to follow Toral...set it to hold position at the edge of Federation space." Mike ordered.

"Aye sir. I'll also drop a sensor bouy here to help monitor." Harrison replied as she tapped commands into her console.

"Heading changed sir, now on course for Starbase 400, warp two." Branson stated.

"Very good. Maintain speed until Toral is two light years inside Romulan space, then take us to warp seven." Mike knew the cloak on Toral's ship had been destroyed in the fight, thanks to hits delevered by the Vanguard, Avenger, Laffey, Constantinople, and Pegasus.

"Aye sir. ETA to Starbase 400 is nineteen hours, forty-two minutes." Branson added.

Bremer had disembarked from the Pegasus and made his way to his Office, just off of Ops. He was still unhappy about his order to break off pursuit of Toral. Making him even more angry was the fact that after crossing into Romulan space, Toral wasn't intercepted by the Romulans...and never re-entered Klingon space. It appeared that the Romulans were aiding and even harboring Toral and his forces. Not surprising really, the House of Duras was notorious for their alliance with the Romulans. However now, with tensions so high, there was no way to get to Toral to make him pay for his new crimes. There was no time for the dishonored, but his day would come....

OFF: Okay, home....now everyone is free to post as they wish. We'll all back together in the same place....
