ON:
The Starships Saratoga, Laffey, Endeavor, and Vanguard had dropped out of warp and where entering orbit of Earth, forming up with Pegasus, Yorktown, Avenger, and Venator.

Admiral Bremer stood with his Senior Staff as well as several members of Starfleet Command. They were gathered at the Federation's Memorial Cemetery just outside of San Francisco. Everyone in this Dress White uniforms. Even though medical teams aboard the Saratoga had learned that Commodore Pike had died of natural causes a few years after he returned to Talos ,the mood was solemn. They were burying a hero.

In space, a lone shuttle lifted off from the Saratoga's bay and headed toward the surface. Moments later, an escort of four Valkyrie class fighters.

As the shuttle made it's decent and landing, the fighter escort flew over head, followed by another flight of fighters in the `missing man` formation.

When the shuttle landed, its rear door slowly opened and lowered. Once it was fully down, two Marines stepped forward and to the side. Moments later, the remains of Commodore Pike were brought out. They had been moved from the case the Tholians had placed his body in, into a new casket. The flag of the Federation draped over it. Colonel Pike, Captain Weatherlight, Commander Winter, and Commander Coleman were the pallbearers.

They slowly moved forward to the burial plot for the famous Starship Captain. A Marine Squad escorting them. When they arrived next to the plot, the seven Marines split off and formed a line nearby.

Fleet Admiral Nechayev stepped forward to say a few words. She recounted Commodore Pike's service as Captain of the Enterprise NCC-1701, his promotion to Fleet Captain, his accident and injuries, and his return to Talos. She then commented on why she decided to posthumously promote him to Commodore (the next rank he would have held in his time), and that she was honored to have the `lost hero` returned home.

When Fleet Admiral Nechayev concluded, she asked for Colonel Pike to step forward to say a few words too.

In the meantime, Mike thought about how he would want to be remembered when his time came to an end....
