Mission: Episode 93 - Warrior VS Warrior
Location: Starbase 400, Bremer's Office
Timeline: MD5, Noon

ON:

Mike sat in his office reading reports. The Devonshire was in route to relieve the USS Challenger in the investigation of the loss of the USS Falcon. Another report showed Starfleet Command’s approval to rename the new Interceptor class ship being assigned to Starbase 400 would be renamed USS Falcon.

Mike then turned his attention to intel reports from the Klingon Civil War. Opposition forces had attacked several key Loyalist facilities. Ty’Gokor Station, Gor’on Station, and M’Para Station. All attacks had been repulsed but at a great cost in ships in warriors. It also spread the Loyal Klingon forces thin…then the Opposition attacked K’Vak Station in the Narendra system and took it over. It was a gut shot to the Empire. Not only did K’Vak Station monitor the Klingon side of the Triangle it also kept an eye on the Romulan border with the Klingon Empire and was their key defense base in the area. Chancellor Martok was planning a counter attack, but he himself had been injured in the defense of Ty’Gorkor. Rura Penthe had also been raided and several hundred enemies of the Klingons had been released. All of this happened while the Federation defended Archanis. With their intel and battle plans in the hands of the Federation and Klingon Loyalists, the Opposition sped up their timetable and attacked ahead of schedule. While the assaults resulted in a great loss in ships and warriors for the Opposition too, the damaged they inflicted and the taking of K’Vak Station made it all worthwhile to them.

Starfleet forces along the Klingon border were still on alert, but with the losses in ships, it would be a while before the Opposition would be in a position to challenge the Federation again. Intel suggested the Opposition were not getting any outside aid from the Romulans, but now Chancellor Martok was making a request of the Federation to supply additional sensor arrays to be placed along the Klingon/Romulan border to makes sure the Opposition wasn’t getting additional aid in the future now that they’ve suffered such high losses in battle. The Klingon Civil War had clearly moved from a war of skirmishes and small battles to a full scale strategic war.

As Commander of the Ares Operational Area, which included the entire Federation border with the Klingon Empire, Mike made sure all commands in the Area were aware of the situation. He sent Starbase 400’s patrol ships out and requested the station’s repair teams work round the clock on the Pegasus, Sutherland, Saratoga, and Tirpitz. Mike then sent a message to the 181st Tactical Fighter Wing to send a sweep along the edge of the Triangle to make sure Opposition Forces didn’t use it to penetrate into Federation space. He knew the Luna was within the Triangle at Nimbus III, but he gave no thought in recalling them. Their mission to take the assassin into custody was important.

Mike then moved on to station reports. A fight had broken out at Club 400 on the Promenade last night when a Klingon tried to ‘talk’ with a Deltan woman that had come with one of the few remaining Free Romulan men still on the station. Security had broken up the fight, but Club 400 remained closed for the rest of the night. New to the Promenade, the club offered music and dancing, a great view of space, and an open bar. It had been really popular since opening too.

Setting the PADDs to the side, Mike finished off the raktijno he’d been drinking and received a fresh one from the food slot. He glanced at another PADD regarding the Marines that had fought at Archanis and hoped they were resting since returning late the night before. As a matter of fact, Mike had given most of his Staff a needed day off for today, and while he would be passing along updates and reports to them, he wanted them to get some rest and relaxation in.

Mike set the last of the PADDs to the side, forwarded every over to Admiral T’Lar, finalized a report to Fleet Admirals Sevlek and Akaar, then stood up. He tapped in a few commands and music started to play. It was Vic Fontain’s last concert with special guests Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and Sammy Davis Jr. that Mike had missed a few nights before. He then did a little relaxing of his own, laying down on the sofa in his office, taking a deep breath, and closing his eyes.
