Mission: Episode 90 - The Great Relink
Location: Transport Dock 16, Starship Romanov..
Timeline: MD2 1305hrs, Following 'Links'

ON:

She was used to the treatment they were receiving, the odd looks and the silent distance given. What could one expect with a tarantula the size of a baseball glove perched on your shoulder. Amir was gentle till severely provoked, she was to old to worry about the other humanoids reactions.

Deborah struggled with it some days. The trip out had been a long one. Poor Amir had to stay in her shielded cage the Entire 19 days!!! Deborah was glad to have reached their new home.. Having graduated from the Marines satellite Officers school in 2389, this was her first full assignment.

Yes the Marines were tasked with many things, but firstly was to kill people and break things.. With the Marines down by over 60% in number largely due to nearly 20 years of combat, the old American thinking, which had lasted for over 1000 years... Was taking hold..

To Deb it was simple. Kill them all let deities sort it out. Than again she'd been an active rebel since she could hold a steak knife. The 3rd combat engineering battalion was barely even a company now, 28 Surviving members out of the full count of 514. She'd read the reports and had been
infuriated, it became her mission to return the 3rd CEB to dome kind of fighting form. Among the officers she called friends no one wanted the assignment calling it a fools run into destruction.

So now here she was, alone on a farflung starbase in an area of the universe no one seemed to trust. At least for the moment there was peace, but for how long???

It was good to be moving, Amir rested on Deb's left shoulder, itching to explore.. This of course was not allowed yet so poor Amir hummed and chittered acting the part of pet. Ships porter was pulling her two hard cases from the cargo door slightly behind her, she waited quietly, passively scanning around her.
It took a little more than a few hours the second day aboard for her to feel comfortable going out after Amir's injuries, but Deb had received a summons to sit with the Base Xo firstly....

Elsewhere

Grayson Hayes, guitar case in hand and carry-on slung across his shoulder, stepped off the ship that had brought him to this starbase and stopped long enough to get his bearings. The trip out to the triangle, as this section of space was known, had been enjoyable. Having grown up in Starfleet, he'd long ago learned to live in the moment. There had been an impromptu concert down in Sickbay one night with the ship's physician and plenty of time to catch up on his reading. He found the nearest display and spent a moment consulting with the computer with regard to places he would need to be.

Diplomatic Suite

Jewel was sitting in her office after arriving back to the station just hours before. She wanted to get caught back up on reports and what she missed while she was away.

She probably spend a few hours playing catch up, then she would probably check in with Mike to let him know she was back and see if there was anything she could do to help in whatever there was needed. She also noticed that there were a few new members that came aboard SB400 while she was away. She would have to meet them when the time was convenient for her.

XO's Office, Section A1, Level 1

"Have Dr. Hayes, Lt. jg Boone and 1st Lieutenant Casion meet me in my office in fifteen minutes. Also have Captain Pike and Major General Hurd meet me in my office in fifteen minutes as well."

Admiral T'Lar walked to her office and sat down. She began looking over the personnel files of the new arrivals while she waited for all of them to join her.

Jewel got the message to head to Admiral T'Lar's office, she got up and headed towards the turbo lift. Once she arrived she entered "Ops," she replied as the doors closed shut behind her and began to move towards its destination.

After a few moments the lift came to a stop and the doors opened, she walked out and headed straight for the Admiral's office and then ran the door chime and waited for her to answer.

"Enter." She looked towards the door.

She then walked in, "Reporting as ordered Admiral." She said with a smile as she then just took a seat on the sofa next to the desk and window. "Hope all is well?" She asked looking at her.

"I can actually say everything is great." She smiled.

She nodded then waited for the others to arrive, she sat there in small talk with the Admiral as she drank her tea.

Grayson found the XO's office with a minimum of fuss, tapped the chime and waited until given permission to enter then stepped in, taking the moment as he always did, to get the lay of the room before preceding any further. "Doctor Grayson Hayes," he said as he turned his attention toward the Executive Officer, Admiral T'Lar, "reporting as ordered."

Deela stood up, "Thank you for coming. I know that Admiral Bremer was going to meet you and get you settled in but he has a situation he is attending to, so I apologize. Looks like you are stuck with me." She smiled as she sat down.

Deela gestured towards Jewel, "This is Major General Hurd. She is our Chief Diplomatic Officer. There will be a few others joining us. Any questions before while we wait?"

Lee got the call while he was in his office to go. He stood up then walked out of his office and headed for Admiral T'Lar's office. He pressed the door chime.

"Enter." She greeted him with a smile, "Captain Pike, thank you for coming. Have a seat while we wait for the rest of the new arrivals."

Lee nodded to the Admiral:"Your welcome Admiral" He walked over taking a empty chair sitting down.

"This is Dr. Hayes. He is our new Chief Medical Officer. This Is Captain Pike. He is 400's Chief Strategic Operations Officer."

Lee turned his head towards the other person:"Nice to meet you Doctor" He extended out his hand.

Deb moved slow and silently. Amir on her left shoulder. No one has ordered her to do anything with the arachnid, yet, thankfully. Her thorax had been severely torn, her left rear legs broken in four places.. Starfleet medical had yet to try and help her, so foreign as to be baffling.. So Deb did what little she could, protecting her from further harm foremost. Ignoring all looks she walked to the XO's office and pressed the chime....

"Come on in." Deela greeted her with a smile as well, "Have a seat and let me introduce you." She introduced her to the Doctor, to Pike and then to Hurd, "This is Major General Hurd. She is our Chief Diplomatic Officer.

Jewel extended her hand towards Casion. "Welcome to Starbase 400, sorry but Brigadier General Jackson is a bit tied up at the moment so I am standing in his place." Jewel replied looking at the woman standing with something strange on her shoulder but she didn't say anything.

Deb was surprised NP one seemed to mind her slightly mangled Amir.. Deb took the offered hand. First lieutenant Deborah Casion reporting with orders Ma'am." She stated evenly. After the night before she had no clue what might be next..

Deela looked around her office, "Looks like we are waiting for one more person." Turning to Casion, "Does your tarantula have a name?" Deela remembered the strange looks she got when she first came aboard with Earl. No one had ever seen a White Bengal Tiger up close and personal..

Still feeling defensive. Deborah sat in one of three seats against the wall. Amir was cradled on her left shoulder barely moving.. "Sorry but it is not an actual tarantula. Starfleet has classified her as an OUE, and currently she is not being studied." She tried to not sound disdainful.. "You heard of the incident last night?" She glanced at the two men she did not know. More people she was responsible to and for...

Deela gave her a blank look, "Actually, I have not."

"It can wait till after this Ma'am.." Deb said, hoping the Admiral would let it go. Amir was asleep but still in pain, Deborah wanted to keep her emotions under control for Amir's sake...

Deela could sense that she was guarded so she didn't push the issue.

The corridors were familiar. Sleek lighting running throughout. Comfortable flooring surface. Yet to be truthful, the hall seemed foreign today.

Perhaps it was the new pip on his collar. Lieutenant Boone, it had a nice tone to it. Though it was only Lieutenant Junior Grade, it was still Lieutenant. His promotion came quickly from his hard work. But also because this starbase needed good officers.

The recent activities were wild and dangerous. Dodge City from the ancient west popped into mind. Out here on the frontier, surrounded by enemies and intrigues. Frankly that excited him and he was ready to tackle whatever his new commanding office threw at him.

The tall and slender figure couldn’t help but feel lost a bit as he glided to his destination. Summoned away from his duties in engineering, Devin Boone was only a few steps away from Admiral T’lar’s office.

Funny, he was a bit nervous and that was rare. He chuckled. It had been only a few short months since he was assigned to Starbase 400 and things had gone smartly. He was given the opportunity to show off his engineering expertise and he took it. Best of all, he loved it and was worriedly excited for what was to come.

As the door loomed over him he extended his index finger to push the greeting button. He hesitated and hot air wafted from his collar. He could feel his face go flush.

“Get a hold of yourself crybaby”. His soft voice whispered. “You got this.”
He let out a heavy sigh and bounced on the balls of his feet. A few quick puffs of air in blowing motion and the doorbell was pushed.

“Enter.” Came the response of really the only voice he recognized around here. Admiral T’Lar, Chief of Staff for Starbase 400 and perhaps the scariest inhabitant of the universe at the present moment.

The doors slid open quicker than they ever had before and Lt. Boone stepped inside. There were a number of people he never met and all eyes for an eternal moment were in his direction'

“Lieutenant Boone reporting as ordered sir!” The room quieted a second and he realized his voice was almost as tense as the muscles in his body. He did his best to ease up and let a bit of controlled air escape his mouth.

“At ease Lieutenant, find a seat. We are almost all here.”

Quickly he found a chair and tried to relax. Only to stand just as quickly as introductions were exchanged. He recognized one name, Lt Grayson Hayes. A personal message had reminded him that his annual Starfleet medical exam was due and it came from Lt. Hayes. He also recognized what looked to be giant spider like creature. It was happily sitting, if arachnids sit, on the shoulder of one Lt. Deborah Casion. He tried not to jump when he noticed it. Spiders were no stranger to him. Grandpa Drake used to always play around with strange animals and insects.

Sitting back down he clasped his hands in his lap and waited for the meeting to begin.

Deela glanced around the room, "Thank you for joining us. Now that all of us are here, we can begin."
