Mission: Mission 87 - Disaster
Location: Main Engineering, USS Ark Royal
Timeline: En Route to Hunster III

Jack headed down to Main Engineering to find Lieutenant Quan and update him of the change in positions after his chat with Coleman whilst the Ark Royal led the fleet to Hunster III. As he made his way down to Engineering, he coukd see various Engineering and Operations teams working flat out on the upgrades he'd ordered.

Jack was impressed with the work that had taken place so far and was confident in his recommendation to Coleman. As he entered Main Engineering, Jack tapped his combadge whilst walking to the Chief Engineers office. "=/\= Solomon to Quan, please report to the Chief Engineers office," Jack requested before entering the office and making sure the logs were updated and correct at the computer terminal on the desk.

Zhao tapped his common badge, "I'm currently inside the main transporter power couplings, I can be with you in five if that is acceptable, Lt".

Jack smiled as he heard Quan's reply, whilst he moved to the chair on the otherside of the desk, that belonged to visitors. "No problem, Lieutenant, take your time," Jack replied.

Zhao entered the Chief Engineers Office and looked around, " sorry it took me so long to get here, those power couplings are easier to get into than get out of".

Jack stood up as Quan entered the office and nodded in agreement about his comment with the power couplings. "Yes, they can be a pain at the best of times, especially on these older classes of Starship," Jack agreed.

Jack waited for a moment before continuing. "Mr Quan, I wanted to personally notify you of a change in roster for the rest of this mission. I can see you and Mr Wooldridge have been hands on with your assignments and I wanted to say that I'm impressed with your work so far...," Jack began. "So with that in mind, I made the reccomendation to Captain Coleman to have you serve as Chief Engineer for the duration of this mission. Mr Wooldridge will continue as your Assistant Chief," Jack explained to him.

For a few seconds Zhao just stood there thinking. After what felt like an eternity he replied, "Thank you, Lt. I will confess I hadn't been expecting this, but thank you all the same. Unfortunately, with all due respect, unless there is anything else I need to get back to the power couplings in the main transporter room. They all need replacing before we start beaming personnel from the surface."

Jack could see he was eager to return to work to get his tasks completed before the fleet arrived and understood his need to leave. "No, thats it Lieutenant. Carry on," he said, moving to leave the room also.

Quan headed for the door, but just before leaving he turned towards the XO, "How long until we arrive, Lt.?"

Jack looked back at him before answering. "We're due to arrive in the next couple of hours," he explained, knowing Quan wanted to get back to his duties.

Zhao swore "Damn.. Sorry Lt. got to run. I need that coupling sorted before we make orbit". With that he walked quickly out of the office and headed towards the turbolift.
