En Route to SB400...

Mission: Mission 84 - Blockade
Location: On board Runabout USS Avon
Timeline: 2 hours before arriving at SB400

Jack had decided that during the long journey on the Runabout, he'd finally gotten comfortable in the pilots chair. Not bad for a journey that started 8 hours ago from Starbase 244. He'd also managed to get the onboard replicator system to whip up a pretty decent version of klingon hot chocolate.

His journey nearly over and he couldn't wait to begin at his new posting on SB400 as the stations Assistant Chief Ops Officer. After spending his career on more elderly starship classes, Jack was looking forward to getting to grips with much newer machinery. Although the Maiden was a Galaxy Class Starship, the thought of serving on a station apealled to him.

Knowing that the station was in one place and served as home for at least half a dozen starships that patrolled the area, Jack knew that he would be busy maintaining the various starships on base as well as the starbase itself.

He was also looking forward to continuing with the Holonovel that his uncle had sent him before leaving 244. Jack had been waiting for the "Deathstalker" holonovel since the Maiden had docked at Earth Station McKinley and having had the actual physical books at his uncles, it gave him a chance to relive them and havea hobby as he settled on the starbase.

Suddenly the comm channel beeped in front of him. Checking it, Jack saw that it was a priority two message on subspace from Admiral Jacques. He answered the comm as the Admiral's face appeared on the screen.

"USS Avon, this is Admiral Jacques, please come in!" ordered the Admiral.

"Lieutenant Solomon here sir," Jack responded.

"Ah Solomon, good. You have new orders. When you arrive at Starbase 400, report to Lt. Commander Yamaguchi on the USS Venator. The Fleet of ships will be on the move once you arrive," he explained.

Jack looked a little puzzled. "Can I ask why Admiral?" Jack asked, wondering why the sudden change in arrival orders.

"Need to know Lieutenant. The brass on SB400 are aware of your arrival so take the Avon straight to the Venator," advised Jacques.

"Understood Admiral, Avon out," replied Jack. As the viewer closed, he increased the speed of the runabout to maximum warp. Whatever was happening was serious and he decided to get to the Venator asap.
