I am back on duty after what seems much longer than 5 months of extended compassionate leave. I can be thankful that my parents are still with us, despite the accident. It was extremely fortunate that we decided to put together a Lasting Power of Attorney document well before the chaos happened. Otherwise, things could have been much harder to deal with.

After the crash, in which my parents were part of the 5 people out of 12 to survive, they were in hospital for 3 months. During this time, I had to deal with all their financial and medical issues. Being an only child, this can be daunting, but fortunately my cousins were on hand and were absolutely fantastic. Once my parents were out of hospital and were once again, home, We had to make some changes to their home to make something easier for them.

I am truly grateful for all the people who stepped up to help us. Without them, I may have needed to extend my leave further. I know the Admiral would be have been sympathetic but as much as I wanted to stay and do as much as I could for my parents, they wanted to me to be back at work and not to be a burden on me. They never have and never will be a burden to me. They are my parents and I love them dearly.

No sooner as I was back on duty, did we face another galactic crisis. I am doing my best to get up to be speed with everything. I am lucky to be with an amazing team for this dangerous mission. As dangerous as it seems, I love my job.

End of Log.
