Personal History Born in 2360 Tatt was born to what would be considered to be a upper middle class family on Cardassia, his father was an engineer in the Cardassian Union and served in the 3rd order during the border wars with the Federation. Tatt's mother was a scientist who held controversial views, she was followed along with her family by the Obsidian Order, she was considered low risk due to her husbands engineering prowess that served the Union.

Tatt grew up in a loving household, throughout school he was considered bright and curious, through his mother he was able to learn about other species and civilizations, Tatt became fond of the Federation and it's values, much to the dismay of his teachers. His mother told him to keep a secret how much he knew about other cultures and focus outwardly to Cardassian teachings while when at home he could research and learn about others. At the age of 14 he was drafted as a cadet to the Cardassian military, what his family knew was that this was to get more 'soldiers to fight for the empire'. His mother told him to survive and don't be brave for the Union.

As the war dragged on his cadet regiment was forced to serve on the front lines, and was tasked with invading a Federation colony of Archer 4. Tatt, who emotionally opposed the war and the alliance with the Dominion was wounded and decorated during this fight. While the Jem Hadar left him several of his older colleagues dragged him to safety, he was given several awards for bravery. He considered his awards just propaganda.

His next assignment was to be part of a boarding team to take Starbase 71, what the Dominion didn't realize was Tatt secretly found a way to send messages to the starbase to warn them. Tatt realized that 71 was serving as a medical facility. As the attack commenced the small Dominion force was ambushed. Starfleet was prepared, Tatt after seeing many of his colleagues injured chose to get into an escape pod and leave. In the confusion Tatt's escape was unnoticed by most, including the Gul in charge of the Cardassian ships. After the battle, his escape pod was picked up by a runabout.

Tatt surrendered to starfleet, after several weeks of interrogation and evidence that proved he was the one sending the warnings to starfleet he was put in a POW camp, however when Starfleet realized he was only 14 changes were made. He was offered as a prisoner exchange, however, his father who couldn't acknowledge the traitorous actions pleaded to the Cardassian government not to allow this and made statements of his removal from their family. This was done to protect Tatt's family and in reality protect Tatt, knowing he would be executed for being a traitor.

Starfleet was informed through diplomatic channels that Tatt would not be considered as an exchange and would be executed if he did return. During his custody a Physician Dr. Thomas Reynolds became friendly and realized that Tatt had no interest or support for Cardassia or the Dominion. Over several months Thomas was able to 'adopt' Tatt and encouraged his love of the Federation and his idealism in diversity. Tatt, while depressed at his removal from his family he understood why it had to happen. Tatt was enrolled in Federation schools, some of his classmates bullied him for his heritage, however, many understood his story and what happened on Cardassia.

Tatt devoted his time for growth and ultimately was able to achieve Federation citizenship, he became close to his adoptive family who helped him when news of the genocide committed against the Cardassian people. Throughout the chaos it was reported that his parents perished during the destruction of Lacoria City, the status of his sisters was unknown.

Starfleet Academy accepted his application, due to his intelligence and to help heal the wounds of the Dominion war. After Graduation he was accepted into Starfleet Medical. Upon completing and graduating 2385 Tatt was assigned to the USS Indefatigable as medical officer where he served for 3 years. In 2389 he was assigned to the USS Yorktown where he served with distinction for 5 years. It was after his tour was completed on Yorktown that he was transferred to Earth Starbase and Starfleet Medical.
